9th Grade Anatomy Block
Anatomy in the Waldorf High School is comprised of three main topic areas: Health and the Human Body, Nutrition and Physiology, and Muscles and Bones. Anatomy focuses on the structure of the body, muscles and bones, while physiology focuses on how those structures support life. Above we see a sampling of 9th grade students’ main lesson books during their study of the skeletal system.

Elementary Students Learn Mandarin
At Highland Hall, Mandarin is taught from first grade, along with Spanish. In the lower grades, students learn poems & songs. By the 4th grade, they learn writing, pinyin, and the contexts in which to use them. Every year, there is a Lunar New Year celebration so students also learn about the culture & customs.

Early Grades Form Drawing
Form drawing is a key part of Waldorf education because it is develops a child's cognitive, physical, and emotional abilities through drawing specific shapes and patterns; it fosters spatial awareness, fine motor skills, concentration, and a sense of rhythm and balance, all while integrating sensory experiences and promoting a deeper connection to the world around them; essentially, it's a practice that aims to educate the whole child through artistic expression. It provides foundations for reading and writing in the earliest grades, cultivates the imagination and feeling of symmetry, and later challenges children as they work with transformations

Students Participate in Unity Day
Our School focused on encouraging kindness and standing up against bullying and teasing during Unity Day week. The students worked together to create a beautiful art piece to remind us that we are a community centered in caring for each other.

The 8th Grade’s field trip was an experience at Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum which is an open-air theatre in Topanga Canyon. School Assembly Eurythmy Performance
The last day of school, all classes presented a short poem, song or skit. Some of the songs were in Mandarin or Spanish, to show what they have been learning in class. The High School did a fantastic Eurythmy performance.

Senior Class Play
2024 Senior Class presented The (One-Act) Play That Goes Wrong, a fun and disastrous murder/mystery play — with hilarious accidents and mishaps galore. It was directed by Mr. Paul Turbiak.

7th Grade Goes to Yosemite National Park
The 7th Grade Class had a memorable adventure in Yosemite National Park where they enjoyed nature at its best, with full waterfalls and rushing rivers. They did rock climbing, hiking, and trekked through the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

5th Grade Pentathlon
The 5th Grade class recently went to San Diego County where they participated, with other Waldorf schools from Southern CA, in the Pentathlon, an event that integrates with their studies of ancient Greece. The 5th graders had a wonderful time, and they all did so well!
