| The 5th Grade Pentathlon is the culmination of a year of studying the Greek games, and the history and mythology of Ancient Greece. Fifth Grade is considered the “golden” year of the grades, where the students are growing in abilities both in school and in physical education. The event, held on the beach at Corona Del Mar, San Diego, consisted of the students from eleven Waldorf Schools participating in five different events: javelin, footrace, Greek wrestling, long jump, and discus. The students from all the schools are placed into one of four city state groups: Sparta, Athens, Corinth, and Thebes. The day ended with a relay race and a medal for each participant. |
